Many years ago, master watchmakers settled in Glashutte, Germany, to respond to Ferdinand Adolph Lange’s proposal to open a watch company and educate potential apprentices. Ferdinand Adolph Lange came back from Switzerland, where he witnessed watchmaking’s craftsmanship and success there. He wanted to adopt the same in Glashutte and also be able to produce expert watchmakers from the potential apprentices within Glashutte.
Like all other businesses, Glashutte also faced challenges along the way. One of which was after WWII, where the watch factory got bombed. However, the watchmaking company did not stop making watches. Glashutte watches became a massive hit that it got copied. As a response, Glashutte Original watches came to be.

Glashutte’s Dials And Cases Are Made In Germany
The dials and cases for Glashutte’s watches came from Germany, and only they are from a different city. Pforzheim is the city where most traditional dials and case works come from. It is a few distances away from Glashutte. Although the city is now well-known like Glashutte, Pforzheim has an even more extended association with watchmaking. It dates back to the 1700s, previously known as the Goldstadt or Golden City for its watch and jewelry trades.
In the industrial side of the city, the dial and case manufactory building exists. The building’s first floor is for the dials, while the second floor is where the cases are. The manufactory building is only for Glashutte originals.
The process involved in making the dials and cases is no easy feat. Focusing on quality, there are no shortcuts available for these processes.
