May the odds be ever in your favor
Rare items don’t always mean useful. Sometimes they’re joke items, but other times they’re actually quite useful. Here are some of the rarest but also useful items that are worth their weight in WoW Classic gold. They’re going to be quite expensive, though that’s only because they’re quite difficult to get. The items are in no particular order.
Hand of Edward the Odd
Table of Contents
This mace is among the best weapons for spellcasters in World of Warcraft. When using one, a hit grants a 3% chance of making the next spell cast instantly. Isn’t that an OP effect, especially for those spells with long cast times? Sure, it’s only a 3% chance, but if luck is on your side it takes effect in a pinch when you really need it.
It’s a random world drop. However, the chances of getting one range from 0.01% to about 0.1%. It also drops from trash mobs in Stratholme, Ahn’Qiraj, Blackrock Spire, Blackwing Lair, and the Molten Core. As if it wasn’t bad enough, you’ll be fighting your party members for ownership while running these dungeons again and again.
Choosing to buy it from the AH would probably set you back about 2,000 gold at maximum.
Teebu’s Blazing Longsword
Everybody back in Vanilla wanted this sword. Even now in Classic WoW, they want it in their WoW Classic bags. Though it has a slow attack speed, every hit count’s because its damage is nothing to sneeze at and it deals extra Fire Damage. Plus, along with its superior damage, it also looks cool! On both those counts, it certainly is a weapon to have. Even better, its level scales with the owner! How cool is that?
Players crowd around Molten Core and Silithus for a chance to get it. Some other databases say it can also be dropped from Blackrock Spire, Blackwing Lair, and the like. Still, the former two locations are the most popular places to hunt for this sword. With an average of 0.033% drop chance, you’re in it for the long haul.
Due to its popularity, it’s the most expensive WoW Classic item here on the list, at most about 4,000 WoW Classic gold in the Auction House.
Parrot Cage (Hyacinth Maw)
Now, this item has two unique differences from the rest of the WoW Classic items on this list. First, it’s a WoW mount, not a weapon. Second, it’s the only one of normal quality. So why is it on this list? Well, it’s a really awesome WoW mount, and there’s only one place to get it. Players have to fight pirates in the Stranglethorn Vale for this rare mount.
With an extremely low drop rate though, you’ll be spending hours fighting all these pirates. It could be worth it for this extremely rare WoW mount. Well, there could be someone selling it on the AH, but they could ask for a price as high as 1,200 gold for it. Whether you’d rather fight pirates or farm gold, it’s worth it to have this insanely rare mount.
Alcor’s Sunrazor
This dagger is a little bit the opposite of Teebu’s Blazing Longsword. Its fast attack speed helps DoT Rogues stack up the debuffs or tanks generate threat. Though it can do better in providing bonus attributes, it’s still a desirable weapon for most players.
As a random epic world drop, the chances of receiving this weapon are very slim. It comes from Molten Core elite mobs and the Scarlet High Clerist in the Western Plaguelands. It would also drop from the Colossus bosses during the Ahn’Qiraj event, though it has long passed by now.
The only way to get it now is through the other mobs or buying it from the AH. It would cost about 1,200 gold at the most. Depending on the seller, it could be cheaper.
Foror’s Compendium of Dragon Slaying
The item begins a quest and it leads to the best tanking weapon for Warriors and Paladins. With a 12-point bonus to stamina and the chance to add to defense and armor, it really is a good weapon for tanks. Of course, they need to get this book first and complete the quest.
The compendium is a random drop from any boss in the Dire Maul Dungeon. That’s not exactly a walk in the park, and not every run would guarantee this drop. It would take a dedicated team to run this dungeon several times for the drop. There’s also the alternative of buying it from the Auction House. This one’s the cheapest at about 800 gold at most.
Conclusions
And those are the rarest items in WoW Classic, and to think of it, even in Vanilla. In reality, they were rarer then than right now in Classic WoW. Now it’s easier to find where this and that can be found and all kinds of information are in organized databases. Before, players had to figure things out more often, because guides weren’t really a thing back then.
Whether for vanity, bragging rights, or using them for their purpose, good luck in getting these WoW Classic items! Even if going for the AH route, you’d still have to farm or earn the WoW Classic gold to buy them. At any rate, keep on enjoying WoW Classic!
