As said, it is normal to feel inadequate while writing an essay. It can quickly turn into a mundane process, especially if you are not interested in the topic.
What you can do to tackle this problem is to get your mind off the task on hand and do something else that you enjoy such as playing a video game, listening to some music, or going for a walk.
